ZTE announced the Axon Watch, the first smartwatch under the Axon brand. It runs Tencent OS instead of Android wear. It is being said the the Tencent OS-version of the watch as China-specific, and the company might introduce a international version running Android wear in the future. There is no word on the price of the ZTE Axon Watch at the moment.
The ZTE Axon Watch features a circular 1.4-inch (400 x 400 pixels) AMOLED Gorilla Glass screen with sapphire coating. Inside there is 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 processor paired with 512MB RAM and include 4G eMMC on-board storage.
The Axon Watch is IP67 certified making it Water and dust resistant and supports GPS, Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity. It comes with support for gesture
controls, phone calls, and messaging. Other features included are a
heart rate sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, geomagnetic, and barometer. It is backed by 300mAh battery.
Earlier this month ZTE introduced its new Axon smartphone series in the United States and the first device to launch under Axon brand was Axon Pro. Now the company has launched two new devices under its Axon lineup, the Axon and Axon Lux in its home market China.
The ZTE Axon Lux features 5.5-inch (2560 x 1440 pixels) CGS TFT LCD with 2.5D curved display technology and Corning Antimicrobial Gorilla Glass protection. Inside there is an 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor paired with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and Adreno 430 GPU. On-board storage is 128GB, further expandable via microSD card up to 128GB. It runs Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with MiFavor 3.2 on top. Camerawise, it sports dual-lens camera
(13-megapixel + 2-megapixel) rear camera with
dual-LED flash. On the
front there is an 8-megapixel camera with 88-degree wide-angle lens and
1080p video recording capabilities. On the connectivity front it supports 4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP and GPS. It is fueled by 3000mAh battery.
The ZTE Axon features 5.5-inch 1080p display, 3GB RAM and 32GB on-board storage. Rest of specs are similar to ZTE Axon Plus.
The ZTE Axon and Axon Lux have Eyeprint ID, which is a password-free eye-based biometric phone unlocking solution that uses the front camera to capture unique vein patterns in the users eye to unlock the smartphone. They also fingerprint sensors, HiFi Audio Chipset AKM 4961 and sports a leather-like finish at the rear panels. Both the devices comes in Ion Gold and Chromium Silver colors.
The ZTE Axon Lux is priced at CNY 3,888 (US$ 625 | Rs. 40,000) and the Axon is priced at CNY 2,699 Yuan (US$ 435 | Rs. 27,500). They are available for pre-orders from company's online store or and JD.com
ZTE also showcase Axon mini with 5.2-inch super AMOLED display. It comes with force touch screen that lets you perform several gestures just by varying the force of the touch. Rest of the specs were not revealed by ZTE, but it said that the smartphone will launch in the "near future".
ZTE has officially announced Axon Pro, the company's flagship for the U.S market. The handset offers high-end specs and impressive design. ZTE says that the Axon was "designed in the US for the US". It is made out of materials like metal and glass.
The ZTE Axon Pro features 5.5-inch Sharp made WQHD (2560 x 1400 pixels) CGS (Continuous Grain Silicon) TFT LCD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the hood there is an 2GHz Octa-core Snapdragon 810 64-bit processor paired with Adreno 430 GPU and 4GB RAM. On-board storage is 32GB (no microSD card support). It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop. The handset's audio is powered by AKM 4961 Hi-Fi audio playback tech that should deliver "excellent sound quality".
Camerawise, it sports dual-lens camera (13-megapixel + 2-megapixel) rear camera with BSI CMOS sensor and dual-LED flash. The dual-lens camera lets users refocus an object after the image has been
captured. The rear camera can also record videos in 4K resolution.On the front there is an 8-megapixel camera with 88-degree wide-angle lens and 1080p video recording capabilities.
Connectivity features include 4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP and GPS. It is fueled by 3000mAh battery that supports Qualcomm's QuickCharge technology for faster recharging times. It measures 154 x 75 x 9.3mm, weighs 175g and comes in Ion Gold, Chromium Silver and Phthalo Blue
colors.
The ZTE Axon Pro is priced at $449.88 (Rs. 28,000) unlocked. It will be available to purchase starting July 27 via ZTEUSA.com, Amazon, eBay, and Newegg. Customers who pre-orders the smartphone will get a free JBL headphones
worth $49.99 and TPU Clear protective case worth $14.99.
Following the success of Nubia in Asian markerts, ZTE is prepping to launch yet another sub-brand, targeted at the U.S market for now. Dubbed 'Axon', the first phone under this brand will be unveiled at an event in New York city on July 14.
ZTE has also put up a teaser page of the smartphone revealing some information about its specifications. Axon will pack 4GB RAM, making it one of the select few phones to sport such a large amount of memory.
Axon Phones will house dual-lens camera solution with dual-LED flash. The dual-lens camera offers users quick auto-focus and recognise depth-of-field. Users can refocus the image after clicking, so that they can easily blur the background. The camera can also shoot 4K resolution videos. The front shooter can detect user's smile to capture the image. The phone will also feature Hi-Fi audio playback and recording via twin microphones using the "best in noise suppression technology"
The teaser page of the phones adds that the Axon will be fueled by a large battery for all-round high performance under the hood. The UI is simplistic with full-bleed images. Also mentioned is a lightning fast prcessor and the smartphone is designed in the U.S.
The smartphone will sport a metallic body and threre is speaker grilles at top and bottom of the display. It will be available in three colors - Phthalo Blue, Ion Gold and Chromium Silver. The contest page on the teaser website, under its competition rules section, reveals the approximate retail value of the Axon to be $450 (Rs. 29,000).
