YU Yureka, Yureka Plus start receiving Cyanogen OS 12.1 update


YU has started rolling out Cyanogen OS 12.1 update based on Android 5.1 Lollipop to the Yureka and Yureka Plus smartphone.

The latest OS version entered final testing phase in June, and was expected to roll out soon. But that did not happen. Rahul Sharma Co-founder CEO of YU apologized for the delay as they "wanted to put up something concrete and ensure its worth your wait".

The Cyanogen OS 12.1 update brings superior performance, new features and amazing thermal control for Yureka and Yureka Plus.

The Cyanogen OS 12.1 update with build number YOG4PAS3JM for  YU Yureka and Yureka Plus will be rolled out in phases over the coming two weeks. If you are impatient, you can manually download the OTA zip from XDA forums and flash it from recovery.

YU also promised to roll out Cyanogen OS 12.1 update to Yuphoria soon.

Yu Yureka now getting Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update, brings improved battery performance


Yu Yureka is now receiving an incremental Lollipop update that brings improved battery performance.

The phone will start receiving the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop-based Cyanogen OS 12 with build number YNG1TAS1K0. The roll out process will happen over the next few days. If you have not received the update notification yet, you will get it in a few days.

The update package is about 130MB in size and will be available over-the-air (OTA). If you have missed the notification you can check for the update manually by going to Settings > About phone > software update.

The company announced the news on its official forum "We are excited to announce a new software update for Yureka which will lead to improved battery performance for Yureka."

The update will also bring fixes that were introduced by Cyanogen OS 12 update, including lag in apps, voice-calling and overheating issues along with security enhancement for your device.

You can buy Yu Yureka without registration on May 6 and May 7


Yu Yureka will be available for purchase without the need for any registration for 48 hours starting May 6 via Amazon India. The news was announced via Yu's social media accounts.

Yu tweeted 'No registrations, no time limits. Yureka open sale on 6th and 7th May. Are you ready to Play God?'. This is the very first time the smartphone will be available through open sale (no registration required).

Yu Yureka, launched last year, in December went for sale for the very first time in January exclusively via Amazon India and since then the smartphone has been selling like hot cakes.

Typically Yu Yureka is sold through flash sale which requires per-registration, and on the sale day limited number of units will be up for grabs. Users can only hope to grab one, before the stock runs out which is bit frustrating.

Yu Yureka comes with a price tag of Rs. 7,999 and the smartphone recently started getting Android 5.0 Lollipop update, said that, there are users who are facing issues after updating.

It features a 5.5-inch 720p IPS display and is protected by Gorilla Glass. It is powered by a 64-bit 1.5GHz octa-core Snapdragon 615 SoC, Adreno 405 GPU and paired with 2GB RAM and 16GB Internal storage. Camera features include 13-megapixel autofocus camera with a Sony EXMOR CMOS sensor at the rear, and a 5-megapixel shooter at front.

In related, Yu announced that it will be launching the successor to the Yu Yureka smartphone dubbed YU YUPHORIA on May 12. Not much is known about this smartphone but Yu on its social platform teased some of the features that include 64-bit processor, 16GB inbuilt storage, 2GB RAM and Android Lollipop based Cyanogen Mod 12OS. Like the Yu Yureka the Yuphoria is also expected to be made available exclusively via Amazon India.

Android Lollipop-based Cyanogen OS 12 update now rolling out to Yu Yureka


Yu has started rolling out Cyanogen OS 12 update based on Android 5.0 Lollipop to Yu Yureka smartphone. The update is rolling out in phases and should be completed over the next three days. The Cyanogen OS 12 update size is 677MB.

The Cyanogen OS 12 includes revamped notifications, refreshed multitasking interface, lock screen notifications, redesigned interfaces based on Material Design. It comes with App Themer that lets you apply themes to indiviual apps. It also adds keyboard support for more Indian languages that include Bengali, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu.

Another new app in the update is Cyanogen email, powered by Boxer. The new email service brings Exchange support, multiple account integration and canned responses for quick replies. Users can also select different LED color for email notification.

Yu Confirms Android Lollipop for 'Project Caesar'; Takes a Dig at Xiaomi


Micromax subsidiary Yu Televentures has started teasing its upcoming smartphone, which is being developed under the codename 'Project Ceaser'. It also confirmed that the new device will run Android 5.0 Lollipop.The company on its Twitter and Facebook account posted two teasers of the upcoming smartphone.

In the first teaser Yu mocks at Xiaomi's Mi devices the runs Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box. The post reads "KitKat in the age of Lollipop? Give me a break!". The 'M' in the word 'Me' resembles Xiaomi's logo and clearly takes a dig on Xiaomi Redmi 2 and MiPad that ships with Android 4.4 KitKat. The tagline reads "Project Ceaser: stay tuned the fYUture is coming!"

The second teaser image on Facebook says "You've got a KitKat. Why don't you wait for a Lollipop. Stay tuned for project ceaser". The teaser shows lollipop loaded till 60%. The tagline of the teaser reads "Lollipop come pre-loaded with Project Ceaser! Why would YU buy anything else?"


Not much is known about the 'Project Ceaser' but in an interview Co-founder of Micromax, Rahul Sharma said that the handset will run on Android L or Lollipop version of Cyanogen OS and will be released in April.

Earlier this month, Yu confirmed that it will roll out Adnroid Lollipop-based CyanogenMOD OS update to its Yureka smartphone. The update is expected to roll out on March 26.

YU Yureka to get Android 5.0 Lollipop OS Update soon


Yu Televentures, a subsidary of Micromax, on its social media accounts posted a teaser image. According to the teaser the company will roll out Android 5.0 Lollipop update for its Yureka smartphone.

The post includes a connect-the-dot numbers game image which when connected give the shape of a Lollipop. The last dotted number is 26 and the punchline says "Coming soon to a Yureka near you!", hinting that on March 26 it will push the Android Lollipop update for the Yureka handsets. The company so far has not confirmed that roll out date is March 26.

The company did not provide any change-log of the update. However we can expect the update to improve the overall performance of the Yureka.

Recently Rahul Sharma, the CEO of Yu Televentures in an interview, revelead that the company os all set to launch its second smartphone. The smartphone is being developed under the codename 'Project Ceaser' and will be launched in April The device will run Android 5.0 Lollipop based CyanogenMod OS. The company is also expected to enter the wearable devices market in the coming months.

Yu Yureka First OS Bug-fix OTA Update Rolling Out

Micromax Yu Yureka has received it first update that brings incrmental bug fixes. The CyanogenMod OS XNPH05Q update is being rolled out over-the-air (OTA).

The incrmental update brings security fixes and improvements for the proximity sensor and dual SIM functionality.

The update package weighs 73MB and is being rolled over-the-air in phases. You can manually check if the update is available for your device by going to Settings>About>Software Update.

After the update process is complete, the model number of the device will change to AO5510 and the baseband version will be changed to MPSS.DPM.1.0.2.cl-00064.

In other news 15,000 units of Micromax's Yu Yureka that was available for purchase today via Amazon India, was sold out in just 4 seconds.

10000 Units Of Yu Yureka Smartphones Sold Out In 3 seconds, Next Flash Sale On February 5

10,000 units of Micromax Yu Yureka which was up for purchase via Amazon India flash sale earlier today at 2pm went out of stock in three seconds. After receiving phenomenal response from the users in the first two flash sales earlier this month, the third flash sale also saw another overwhelming response. 

10,000 units were out of stock in 3 seconds in the first flash sale and 15,000 units went out of stock in 4 seconds in the second flash sale.

The Yu Yureka handset appeals to the massed due to its aggressive pricing just like Xiaomi and Lenovo's A6000 which are priced below Rs. 10000 and offers decent performance. The Yu Yureka is priced at Rs. 8,999.

Micromax unit Yu Televentures also announced that the next flash of the Yu Yureka handset will be held on February 5 at 2pm with 20,000 units of Yureka  up for sale. The registration for the next flash sale is already open. You can visit Amazon India's dedicated Yu Yureka page to register for the next sale. There is no details about how many units will be up for sale.

The company also said that it will be holding flash sale every week on Thursday and users will have to register indiviually for every each flash sale. It also announced that it will increase the number of units to make available for purchase in the flash sales.

Amazon Sells 15000 Units Of Yu Yureka In 4 Seconds, Next Flash Sale On January 29

Today 15,000 units of Micromax Yu Yureka were up for grabs on Amazon India. It just took four seconds for the handset to go out of stock. This was the second flash sale of the Yureka handset. Last week saw 10,000 units of the handset go out of stock in three seconds.

The company announced that the Yu Yureka will go on sale every thursday for which registration will begin a week prior on the same day at 5PM. The next sale will take place on January 29. Registration for the third flash sale is now open on Amazon.

The unique selling point of Yu handset is that they run on CyanogenMod-powered Android OS and is a budget friendly 4G LTE smartphone.

10,000 Units Of Yu Yureka Sold Out In 3 Seconds, Next Sale On January 22

Micromax YU brand’s first smartphone, Yureka which went on sale early today for the first time in India via Amazon went out of stock within 3 seconds. 10,000 units was put up for purchase. Over 300,000 people registered for the first flash sale of the handset in India. The Yureka is priced at Rs. 8,999.

Micromax announced that the next flash sale will take place on January 22. The company has not revealed the number of units available to the customer for the January 22 sale.

The unique selling point of Yu handset is that they run on CyanogenMod-powered Android OS and is a budget friendly 4G LTE smartphone. It will compete with Xiaomi's Redmi Note 4G which was also up for grabs in Flipkart today.

10,000 Units Of Yu Yureka To Go On Sale Via Amazon On January 13 In India

Micromax subsidary, Yu Televenture's, first smartphone Yureka will go on sale via Amazon on January 13 for Rs.8,999 ($150) in India. The unique selling point of Yu handset is that they run on CyanogenMod-powered Android OS, with added features over stock Android.

The company will offer 10,000 units of the handset on the first flash sale starting 2PM IST for registered users of its Yureka smartphone. Last month the registrations for the online sale closed after an "overwhelming response"

Micromax Co-founder, Rahul Sharma said "We saw unprecedented response with over three lakh registrations. Registrations were to be open till December 25. However, owing to the mega response they had to be closed a day earlier." He went on to add, "We are working on ramping our capacities. Given the kind of enthusiasm that we have seen, we will increase the number of units put out for sale gradually."

Micromax's Yu Launch Cyanogen OS-powered Yureka Smartphone in India

Micromax launched its first smartphone with Cyanogen under the Yu brand - The Yu Yureka for Rs. 8,999.
The handset gets launched under the slogan 'Yu play god' indicating the high level of control users can get over their smartphones. The unique selling point of Yu handset is that they run on CyanogenMod-powered Android OS, with added features over stock Android.

One of the world's top 10 handset maker, Micromax has an exclusive partnership with US-based operating system maker Cyanogen for making CyanogenMod the OS base on the new device.
The handset will be available on a flash sale via Micromax online retail partner, Amazon India. Registrations on the Amazon website to buy the device opens on Friday at 2 pm with sales scheduled to begin in the second week of January.'

Coming to the specs, The handset features a 5.5-inch 720p IPS display and is protected by Gorilla Glass. It is powered by a 64-bit 1.5GHz octa-core Snapdragon 615 SoC, Adreno 405 GPU and paired with 2GB RAM and 16GB Internal storage with microSD card support upto 32GB.

Camera features include 13-megapixel autofocus camera with a Sony EXMOR CMOS sensor at the rear, and a 5MP shooter at front. Connectivity options include  Bluetooth 4.0, Micro-USB, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The handset also features dual-SIM support, with slots for Micro-SIM cards (4G+3G).

The device is powered by  3000mAh battery which delivers upto 8 hours, standby time up to 310 hours, video playback time of up to six hours, and gaming up to 4 hours.

The rooting on the YU handset will not void the warranty and the company will be providing an unlockable bootloader, kernel source and full Android build tree. Micromax is offering India-specific storefront for apps and themes and promise for frequent updates. The brand will also provide free replacements and repairs at the user's doorstep.
