YU Yureka, Yureka Plus start receiving Cyanogen OS 12.1 update


YU has started rolling out Cyanogen OS 12.1 update based on Android 5.1 Lollipop to the Yureka and Yureka Plus smartphone.

The latest OS version entered final testing phase in June, and was expected to roll out soon. But that did not happen. Rahul Sharma Co-founder CEO of YU apologized for the delay as they "wanted to put up something concrete and ensure its worth your wait".

The Cyanogen OS 12.1 update brings superior performance, new features and amazing thermal control for Yureka and Yureka Plus.

New features in Cyanogen OS 12.1
  • Redesigned Launcher: App Drawer and Folders have been redesigned for one-handed use.
  • Smarter Screen: LiveDisplay intelligently adjusts your screen based on environmental conditions.
  • Calendar Together with Email: Enjoy the latest Boxer powered experience where you can seamlessly share your availability and schedule appointments.
  • Fresh AudioFX: The user interface has been updated for consistency across all devices.
  • More Playback support: Substantially increased support of codecs for video and audio playback.
The Cyanogen OS 12.1 update with build number YOG4PAS3JM for  YU Yureka and Yureka Plus will be rolled out in phases over the coming two weeks. If you are impatient, you can manually download the OTA zip from XDA forums and flash it from recovery.

YU also promised to roll out Cyanogen OS 12.1 update to Yuphoria soon.

Wileyfox Storm, Swift with Cyanogen OS, 4G LTE announced


UK based Wileyfox introduced its first set of smartphone, Storm and Swift running on the latest Cyanogen OS 12.1 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. Both phones have support for dual-SIM and 4G LTE. 

They have a new PIN scramble option that moves the numbers on the keyboard around; Blocked Caller list, which blocks incoming calls and texts from selected numbers; Granular control that lets you select which apps get to access personal data. Both phone come in Sandstone Black colors only.
Wileyfox Storm is at the higher end of the spectrum and has a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Inside there is an 1.5GHz octa-core Snapdragon 615 64-bit processor with Adreno 405 GPU, 3GB RAM and 32GB expandable storage (up to 128GB supported). The phone comes with Hydrid dual SIM slot, that second slot can be used as microSD card slot. Camerawise, it sports 20-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX220 sensor and 8-megapixel front shooter. Both cameras have LED flash. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. It is fueled by 2500mAh battery.
Wileyfox Swift features 5-inch HD (1280 x 720) pixels IPS Fully Laminated display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Inside there is an 1.2GHz quad-core 64-bit Snapdragon 410 processor with Adreno 306 GPU, 2GB RAM and 16GB expandable storage (up to 32GB supported). For imaging there is 13-megapixel rear camera with Samsung S5K3M2 sensor and dual LED flash. On the front sits a 5-megapixel shooter for taking selfies. It supports 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS connectivity. Fueling the device is a 2500mAh battery. 

Wileyfox Storm is priced at £199 ($315 | Rs. 21,000) and will be available in September, Swift costs £129 ($205 | Rs. 13,500) and will be available in October. They will be up for pre-order from official website starting this week across Europe. They will also be available from Amazon, Ebay, JD, Souq, Expansys and Clove.

Yu Yureka Plus with 5.5-inch Full HD display launched for Rs. 9,999


Micromax subsidiary Yu Televentures launch its first smartphone with Cyanogen dubbed Yureka in December last year. The brand in May, launched its second smartphone the Yuphoria. 

Now the company has launched its third smartphone. Yu's latest offering, is the Yu Yureka Plus, the next generation version of Yu Yureka. It comes with Full HD display as compared to HD display on Yureka. It has the similar build quality as its predecessor - reinforced casing with polycarbonate shell.

Yu Yureka Plus features 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the hood there is an Octa-core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 (MSM8939) (ARM Cortex A53 – 4×1.5GHz + 4×1.0GHz) processor paired with Adreno 405 GPU 2GB DDR3 RAM. On-board storage is 16GB (12.5GB user accessible), further expandable via microSD card up to 32GB. It runs Cyanogen OS 12 based Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.


Camerwise Yureka Plus sports 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, f/2.2 aperture, Sony IMX214 sensor, 5P Largan Blu Lens and 1080p video recording capabilities. On the front there is 5-megapixel camera with 1.4 micron pixel size.

On the connectivity front, Yureka Plus supports 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and USB OTG. It is fueled by 2500mAh battery and has dual SIM slots for Micro-SIM cards (4G+3G). The handset comes in Moondust Grey and a limited edition Alabaster White variant.
 
The Yu Yureka Plus is priced at Rs. 9,999 and will be available exclusively via Amazon India through flash sales. The first flash sale will take place on July 24 for which the registrations are now open.

Yu Yureka now getting Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update, brings improved battery performance


Yu Yureka is now receiving an incremental Lollipop update that brings improved battery performance.

The phone will start receiving the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop-based Cyanogen OS 12 with build number YNG1TAS1K0. The roll out process will happen over the next few days. If you have not received the update notification yet, you will get it in a few days.

The update package is about 130MB in size and will be available over-the-air (OTA). If you have missed the notification you can check for the update manually by going to Settings > About phone > software update.

The company announced the news on its official forum "We are excited to announce a new software update for Yureka which will lead to improved battery performance for Yureka."

The update will also bring fixes that were introduced by Cyanogen OS 12 update, including lag in apps, voice-calling and overheating issues along with security enhancement for your device.

Yu Yuphoria with 5-inch display, Cyanogen OS 12 launched in India for Rs. 6,999


Micromax subsidary Yu Televentures launched the company's second YU branded smartphone, the Yu Yuphoria in India.

Yu claims that Yuphoria went through a number of processes including pre-bending, stamping, welding, laser etching, sandblasting,  PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) and polishing thus making it more durable. The team acheived the sleek matte finish after extreme cycles of sandblasting that is used in automobile industry. The company filed 4 patents for the smartphone and it is assembled in India.

Yu Yuphoria sports a metal frame around the body that gives it a premium feel, protected by anti-finger coating and has a screen-to-body ratio of 67.1%. It features 5-inch (1280x720 pixels) HD IPS Fully Laminated display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is 5 times tougher, Scratch and Finger print resistant.

Under the hood there is a 1.2GHz 64-bit quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor paired with Adreno 306 GPU and 2GB LPDDR3 RAM. It comes with 16GB of internal storage and microSD card slot that supports up to 64GB microSD card.

The Yu Yuphoria runs Android 5.0 Lollipop based CyanogenMod OS 12. It comes loaded with a few CM 12 features like App Themer (change theme of indiviual apps), slow-motion feature to the camera (records videos at 60/120 fps). The smartphone also comes with a new feature called Choice which brings optional integrations like Truecaller dialler, Audio FX equaliser and e-mail app powered by Boxer.

Camera features include 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, OmniVision OV8865 sensor with F/2.2 aperture and 1080p video recording capabilities. On the front there is a 5-megapixel camera with 4P lenses, f/2.0 aperture and 86-degree wide-angle lens. The rear camera has a Saturn ring design.

On the connectivity it supports dual-SIM, 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. For enhanced Audio and multimedia experience, the Yuphoria comes equipped with Cirrus Logic Wolfson Stereo chip that gives best in class sound clarity.

A 2230mAh battery fuels the Yu Yuphoria the can deliver up to 7 hours of talk time, 7 hours of music playback, 3.5 hours of video playback and 160 hours of standby time. It measures 142.38x72.96x8.25mm, weighs 143 grams and will be available in Buffed Steel and Champagne Gold colors.

The Yu Yuphoria is priced at Rs. 6,999 and will be available exclusively via Amazon India through flash sale starting from May 28. Registration for the sale will start today at 5PM.

Cyanogen OS 12 rollout resumes for OnePlus One, new build includes OK OnePlus and bug fixes


Earlier this week OnePlus paused the Cyanogen OS 12 rollout to add "OK OnePlus" feature. Now OnePlus has resumed the Cyanogen OS 12 rollout to its One smartphone.

The new update with build number YNG1TAS17L is reaching out to users with the new OK OnePlus feature along with improvements, bug fixes and security enhancements. The update package is 598.8MB in size and is currently rolling out over-the-air (OTA). 


Once the update process is completed, you can activate the OK OnePlus feature from Settings>Language>Input> Voice wakeup. At first it will ask you to train your voice for OK OnePlus voice command and then you are ready to go. With the OK OnePlus feature users can unlock their OnePlus One smartphone with their voice.

OnePlus One Cyanogen OS 12 update paused to add 'OK OnePlus' feature


Android Lollipop based CM12 update that was rolling out OTA to OnePlus One has been paused temporarily. It started rolling out last week over-the-air.

OnePlus Co-Founder Carl Pei on his twitter account tweeted that the Cyanogen OS 12 update roll out has been paused temporarily due to the addition of 'OK OnePlus'. The new feature was due to be released last year in June. It will now be included with the Cyanogen OS 12 update. 

The OK OnePlus feature is similar to 'OK Google' voice search feature.

The Cyanogen OS 12 update should resume mid week bringing the new feature along. Users who have already updated to CM 12 will receive the Ok OnePlus feature in a seperate OTA update.

Android Lollipop-based Cyanogen OS 12 update now rolling out to Yu Yureka


Yu has started rolling out Cyanogen OS 12 update based on Android 5.0 Lollipop to Yu Yureka smartphone. The update is rolling out in phases and should be completed over the next three days. The Cyanogen OS 12 update size is 677MB.

The Cyanogen OS 12 includes revamped notifications, refreshed multitasking interface, lock screen notifications, redesigned interfaces based on Material Design. It comes with App Themer that lets you apply themes to indiviual apps. It also adds keyboard support for more Indian languages that include Bengali, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu.

Another new app in the update is Cyanogen email, powered by Boxer. The new email service brings Exchange support, multiple account integration and canned responses for quick replies. Users can also select different LED color for email notification.

The much awaited, Android Lollipop-based Cyanogen OS 12 update is finally released for the OnePlus One. The update is now rolling out over-the-air (OTA) and the update package is 598.3MB.

The Cyanogen OS 12 includes revamped notifications, refreshed multitasking interface, lock screen notifications, redesigned interfaces based on Material Design. It comes with App Themer that lets you apply themes to indiviual apps.
