Facebook Instant Articles now available for Android users in India

Facebook's Instant Articles feature is now available for Android users in India. Initially, Android users will have access to content from five-well know publishers including India Today, Hindustan Times, The Indian Express, Aaj Tak and The Quint. This feature shows up directly on your news feed.

Instant Articles will allow users to read quality content from the well known publishers much faster and easier within the Facebook App. Publishers who partner with Facebook can host their articles on social network directly, allowing publication housed to display media rich content even on 2G networks.

Facebook states that since Instant Articles are already loaded in the background, pictures pop up instantly right after you click one the link, and embedded videos starting playing the moment you scroll down. Facebook plans to add more publishers to the list once it studies the content consumption patterns of user.

To remind you, Instant Articles has been available for iPhone users since October in the U.S and Western Europe.

Andy Mitchell, Facebook’s director of news and global media partnerships said- “We at Facebook are really excited to be rolling out Instant Articles in India on Monday. We are working with a publisher ecosystem that is varied and we are excited to see how this product will resonate with Facebook users and publishers in India,”
