Xiaomi has been selling their smartphones exclusively via Flipkart in India until now.
Today the Chinese smartphone maker has ended its exclusive partnership with Flipkart and appointed additional partners, Amazon India and Snapdeal to sell their devices. But the company will still continue to sell their device via Flipkart.
Starting April 8 Xiaomi devices will be sold on all three e-commerce sites - Flipkart, Snapdeal and Amazon India in addition to Flipkart. The company has not clarified if it will use the flash sale model to sell their devices on Amazon India and Snapdeal.
In addition the Xiaomi devices will also be sold via offline retailers - Airtel store and The Mobile store in several cities across the country.
"We are glad
to give Mi fans more options to purchase Mi products. We are truly
excited to be working with a variety of partners and expect these
partnerships to be super successful," said Manu Kumar Jain, head of
Xiaomi in India.
"We are excited to partner with Xiaomi to launch its highly
sought-after range of smartphones and accessories to our customers
across the country. We believe that the extensive delivery network
panning across Tier 2 & 3 cities and towns of India will be of great
value to Xiaomi in reaching out to a segment of consumers seeking true
value in their devices," said Snapdeal's Tony Navin.
To recap, Last year, Xiaomi entered Indian market and they sold their devices exclusively via Flipkart. Since its entry, Xiaomi devices has been selling like hot cakes in the country with devices being out of stock in under 10 seconds. However the last few flash sales of Xiaomi products seems to be disappointing.
The company has already established its online presence in India through Flipkart. Appointing Snapdeal and Amazon India as their sales partner would only help Xiaomi to increase the sale of their devices in the country.
