Samsung's super-slim Galaxy A8 lands in India for Rs. 32,500

Samsung has launched its slimmest smartphone, the Galaxy A8 in India. With a waistline of just 5.9mm, it is Samsung's slimmest phone to date. The Galaxy A7 was the earlier holder of the title with its 6.3mm body. However, Galaxy A8 is not the slimmest phone out there, Gionee Elife S7, Oppo R5 and Vivo X5Max are 5.5mm, 4.85mm and 4.75mm thick respectively.

The Samsung Galaxy A8 sports full metal uni-body design and has ultra-narrow bezels. It runs Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box and has fingerprint sensor integrated on the home button. The phone has Hybrid Dual-SIM slot, the second slot can also be used as a microSD card slot.

The Galaxy A8 features 5.7-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Inside there is an octa-core Samsung Exynos 5430 SoC (four cores clocked at 1.3GHz, and four at 1.8GHz) instead of the 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor used in the China variant. It packs 2GB RAM and on-board storage is 32GB (expandable via microSD card up to 128GB).

Camerawise, it sports 16-megapixel auto-focus rear camera with LED flash, f/1.9 aperture. It comes with HDR mode, voice activation, face detection and full HD video recording capabilities. On the front there is a 5-megaixel shooter with 120 degrees wide-angle lens for clicking selfies. 

Connectivity options include 4G LTE, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1, and GPS/GLONASS. It is fueled by 3050mAh battery and comes in Black, White and Gold colors.

The Samsung Galaxy A8 is priced at Rs. 32,500 and is available via all retail and online stores across the country. It comes with double data offer for Airtel subscribers for 6 months.

It offers 16GB/32GB internal storage, further expandable via microSD card up to 128GB. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop and has a fingerprint scanner on the home button.

Camerawise, it sports 16-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, f/1.9 aperture and 5-megapixel front shooter for taking selfies with 120 degrees wide-angle lens. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1, and GPS/GLONASS. It is fueled by 3050mAh battery and comes in Black, White and Gold colors.

Samsung is yet to reveal the the price and availability details of the Galaxy A8.

Samsung Galaxy A8 gets listed in China, price and release date surface

Samsung's highly anticipated smartphone A8 is not a stranger to us. It appeared in live images, got benchmarked and certified by TENAA & FCC revealing everything there is to know about the phone. But, until officially announced they are just rumors.

Now, the Galaxy A8 is listed on Suning Tesco, one of the biggest retailers in China indicating that the official announcement is near. Also listed on the retailer site are the specs and availability details of the Galaxy A8.

According to the listing, the Samsung Galaxy A8 features 5.7-inch full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) Super AMOLED display. The Single SIM variant (LTE) is powered by Exynos 5430 Octa-core (1.8GHz Quad A15 + 1.3 GHz Quad A7 ) processor with Mali T628 MP6 GPU while the Dual-SIM model (LTE + 3G) is powered by Snapdragon 615 octa-core (1.5GHz Quad A53 + 1.0 GHz Quad A53 ) processor with Adreno 405 GPU.

The Galaxy A8 packs 2GB RAM and 32GB on-board storage, further expandable via microSD card up to 128GB. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop. Camera features include 16-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, f/1.9 aperture and 5-megapixel front facing camera. Connectivity features include 4G LTE, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS/GLONASS. It is fueled by 3050mAh battery and comes in Black, White and Gold colors.

The Samsung Galaxy A8 sports a  5.94mm metal and is said to be the thinnest Galaxy device. The phone also houses a fingerprint sensor under its home button for biometric authentication to unlock the device.

Samsung's Galaxy A8 will go on sale in China on July 17. There is no mention of the price but according to french website NowhereElse.fr, the Galaxy A8 will be priced approximately 439 Euros (US$ 480 | Rs. 31,000).

Samsung Galaxy A8 spotted in catalog picture in South Korea

We have heard a lot about Samsung's upcoming high end smartphone Galaxy A8. It appeared in live images, got benchmarked and certified by TENAA & FCC giving a clear picture of what we can expect for the device.

Now, the Samsung Galaxy A8 is spotted in a catalog that reveals all there is to know about the device except the pricing and availability.

According to the brochure, Samsung Galaxy A8 features 5.7-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) Super AMOLED display and is powered by Octa-Core Exynos 5430 (1.8GHz Quad A15 + 1.3 GHz Quad A7) processor paired with Mali T628 MP6 GPU. The actual chipset is not clear as TENAA listing revealed that the device was powered by Snapdragon 615 processor. We can expect the Galaxy A8 to come in two SIM variant - the Single-SIM with Exynos SoC and the dual-SIM with Snapdragon 615 SoC, similar to the Galaxy A7.

The phone packs 2GB RAM and on-board storage is 32GB, with storage expansion up to 128GB via microSD card. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop and supports 4G LTE, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS/GLONASS connectivity. Camerawise the Galaxy A8 sports 16-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, f/1.9 aperture and 5-megapixel front facing camera.

The Samsung Galaxy A8 has a thickness of 5.9mm making it the slimmest Samsung Galaxy phone to date, weighs 151 grams and comes in Gold, White and Black colors.

Samsung Galaxy A8 certified by TENAA and FCC

After showing itself in live images, the Samsung Galaxy A8 (SM-A8000) has been certified by China's TENAA. The phone is also certified by TENAA's U.S counterpart FCC.

Most of the specs listed on TENAA are in line with the specs leaked earlier. The Galaxy A8 will have a thickness of just 5.94mm making it the thinnest Samsung phone till date. The screen size will be 5.7 inch and not 5.5-inch which was rumored earlier. The FCC listing does not reveal any useful details of the phone, but it does state its SAR values.

Accoring to TENAA the Samsung Galaxy A8 will feature 5.7-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD Super AMOLED display and powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor (1.5GHz Quad A53 + 1.0 GHz Quad A53) paired with Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB RAM. The phone houses 16GB internal storage, further expandable up to 128GB via microSD card slot. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop.

Camera features include 16-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 5-megapixel front facing camera. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS/ GLONASS and dual-SIM support. It measures 158 x 76.77 x 5.94mm and weighs 142g. 

The listing does not reveal the battery capacity of Galaxy A8, but earlier rumors claim that it will have a 3000mAh battery. Also the phone is rumored to house a finger print sensor on the home button.

We can expect the Galaxy A8 to go official soon, since it has received TENAA and FCC certification.

Samsung Galaxy A8 shows up in live images

Alleged live images of Samsung Galaxy A8 have surfaced online. The image reveals that the Galaxy A8 will come with metal frame. It has a microSD card slot and a SIM slot, the volume rocker is on the left side, and on the right side there is power button. The Galaxy A8 will have finger print senson on the home button.

Specifications of the Galaxy A8 has already surfaced back in April. Galaxy A8 will sport a 5.5-inch full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) AMOLED display and it will be powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor clocked at 1.4GHz with Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB RAM. It comes with 16GB internal storage, expandable up to 64GB via microSD card and runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

It comes with 16-megapixel rear camera with auto-focus, LED flash and 5-megapixel front facing camera.In terms of connectivity it supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G LTE, NFC and GPS. It packs 3050mAh battery, measures 157.7 x 76.7 x 5.9mm and weighs 140g.

With a thickness of 5.9mm, the Galaxy A8 is said to be Samsung's Slimmest smartphone, 0.4mm slimmer that the A7. There are no details on its launch date.

Samsung Galaxy A8 specifications revealed by benchmarks; Galaxy J5, J7 visit TENAA

Details of three new Samsung smartphones have surfaced online. The first one Galaxy A8 appeared on benchmark site and the other two Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 have been certified by by China's Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center (TENAA).

First up, Samsung Galaxy A8 with model number SM-A8000 turned up in GFX Bench. The listing reveals that the Galaxy A8 will sport a 5.5-inch full HD display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution and it will be powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor clocked at 1.4GHz with Adreno 405 GPU. 

The Galaxy A8 packs 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage and runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. It comes with 16-megapixel rear camera with auto-focus, flash and 5-megapixel front facing camera.In terms of connectivity it supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G LTE, NFC and GPS. It packs 3050mAh battery. The phone is also rumored to sport a touch based fingerprint sensor like the one on Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.

The Samsung Galaxy J5 (SM-J5008) and Galaxy J7 (SM-J7008) paid a visit to China's TENAA.
