Samsung Galaxy J5 and J7 selfie focused smartphone launched in India

Samsung has launched the Galaxy J5 and J7 selfie focused smartphones in India. Both are Samsung's first handset to feature LED flash units at front to capture better selifies in low-light conditions.

Samsung Galaxy J5  features 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display and is powered by 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 64 bit processor paired with Adreno 306 GPU and 1.5GB RAM. The phone comes with 16GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 64GB via microSD card. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. Camera features include 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and f/1.9 aperture. On the front there is a 5-megapixel shooter with LED flash and 120 degree wide-angle lens for taking selfies. Connectivity features include dual-SIM support, 4G LTE, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS. A 2600mAh battery fuels the Galaxy J5.

The Galaxy J7 features 5.5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display and is powered by an Octa-Core (four 1.4GHz cores + four 1GHz cores) Snapdragon 615 processor paired with Adreno 405 GPU and 1.5GB RAM. It is fueled by 3000mAh battery. Rest of the specs are similar to the Galaxy J5. Both Galaxy J5 and J7 comes in White, Black and Gold colors.

Samsung Galaxy J5 and J7 is priced at Rs. 11,999 and 14,999 accordingly and will be available exclusively via Flipkart. Both the handsets will be available to purchase from July 23, with pre-booking via Flipkart opening at 4pm on Thursday.

Samsung is also throwing a handful of freebies with the phone including Rs. 3,200 worth in-app purchase credit from Gameloft, Double data for Airtel customers on 4G for six months, Airtel's Wynk Music subscription for six months and a flip cover worth Rs. 999 for just Rs. 199.

Samsung to unveil selfie-focused Galaxy J5, J7 in India on July 16

Samsung unveiled two selfie-focused smartphones dubbed Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 in China last month. Both handset had 5-megapixel front shooter with LED flash.

Today, Samsung India has sent out press invites for an event taking place on July 16 in New Delhi, India.The Galaxy J5 and J7 are expected to be launched in the event.

The invite does not reveal which device will be launched, though the phone featured in the invite has the same front facing camera / dual LED flash setup as Galaxy J5 and J7, but it is placed differently. The invite reads"Unveiling of the latest stars in the Galaxy series".

The Samsung Galaxy J5 and J7 were launched in China last month, priced at CNY 1,398 (Rs. 14,500) and CNY 1,798 (Rs. 18,400) accordingly.  Both run Android 5.1 Lollipop and have dual-SIM slots. They come in Black, White and Gold colors.

Samsung has announced two new Galaxy phones under its J-series dubbed Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 in China. Both are first devices in the J-series to feature front camera with LED flash units.

Samsung Galaxy J5  features 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display and is powered by 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 64 bit processor paired with Adreno 306 GPU and 1.5GB RAM. The phone comes with 16GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 64GB via microSD card. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box.

Camera features include 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and f/1.9 aperture. On the front there is a 5-megapixel shooter with LED flash and 120 degree wide-angle lens for taking selfies. It measures 152.2 x 79.1 x 7.9mm, weighs 168g and comes in Black, White and Gold exteriors.

The Samsung Galaxy J5 is priced at CNY 1398 (US$ 225 | Rs. 14,500) and the Galaxy J7 is priced CNY 1798 (US$ 290 | Rs. 18,500) and goes on sale in China this week.

Samsung Galaxy A8 specifications revealed by benchmarks; Galaxy J5, J7 visit TENAA

Details of three new Samsung smartphones have surfaced online. The first one Galaxy A8 appeared on benchmark site and the other two Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 have been certified by by China's Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center (TENAA).

First up, Samsung Galaxy A8 with model number SM-A8000 turned up in GFX Bench. The listing reveals that the Galaxy A8 will sport a 5.5-inch full HD display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution and it will be powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor clocked at 1.4GHz with Adreno 405 GPU. 

The Galaxy A8 packs 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage and runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. It comes with 16-megapixel rear camera with auto-focus, flash and 5-megapixel front facing camera.In terms of connectivity it supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G LTE, NFC and GPS. It packs 3050mAh battery. The phone is also rumored to sport a touch based fingerprint sensor like the one on Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.

The Samsung Galaxy J5 (SM-J5008) and Galaxy J7 (SM-J7008) paid a visit to China's TENAA.
