Smartron srt.phone with 5.5-inch display, 4GB RAM, Android 7.1.1 launched starting at Rs. 12,999

Smartron, a consumer electronics startup backed by Sachin Tendulkar, made its debut in the Indian market with the t.phone back in May, 2016. One year later, the brand has launched its second smartphone namely srt.phone. Smartron's latest offering tick all the boxes, at-least on paper, boasting decent specs at a reasonable price tag, though the design looks mediocre.

The Smartron srt.phone features 5.5-inch Full HD IPS Gorilla Glass 3 display and is powered by octa-core Snapdragon 652 processor backed by Adreno 510 GPU and 4GB RAM. It will be available in two storage options: 32GB and 64GB. The storage is expandable via microSD card, and the device comes with unlimited cloud storage on Smartron's t.cloud service.

For photography, it gets 13MP f/2.0 rear camera with LED flash and PDAF. On the front for selfies, there's 5MP camera. The dual-SIM phone support 4G, VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC and USB Type-C in terms of connectivity, and has a rear mounted fingerprint scanner. Running Android 7.1.1 Nougat, it packs 3000mAh battery. Smartron update to Android O, when it will be commercially released, along with latest security patches.

The Smartron srt.phone is priced at Rs. 12,999 for the 32GB storage version, and Rs. 13,999 for the 64GB storage version. It will be available exclusively on Flipkart starting today in Titanium Gray color. Launch offers include a free special edition Sachin Tendulkar Signature back cover worth Rs. 599, no cost EMI, Rs. 1,500 off on exchange of old device, and one year t.care extended warranty worth Rs. 1,499 free.

Considering the specs and price, Smartron's srt.phone appears to be a worthy competitor to Xiaomi's Redmi Note 4 and Motorola's Moto G5 Plus.
