Samsung finally launched the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ earlier this week. While the main highlight is the Infinity display because of the lack of bezels, the phones also comes with unique security features as well. One of them is the facial recognition technology, which lets the user unlock the Galaxy S8 by scanning their face. Now a YouTube video posted by iDeviceHelp reveals a vulnerability in the facial recognition technology, which makes it insecure. The video shows that the Galaxy S8 facial recognition can be fooled and bypassed using just the photo of the user. In the video, a phone is placed infront of Galaxy S8's facial scanner with an image of the owner, and the Galaxy S8 is unlocked quickly. Samsung at the Galaxy S8 launch event touted that the facial recognition feature was one of the fast and secure way to unlock the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. However, the ease with which the phone was unlocked should be a major concern for the user despite there are other secure ways of unlocking the phone. The facial recognition vulnerability could be due to the unfinished software, and now that it has come to Samsung's attention, it might fix the issue via a software update. Apart from the facial recognition technology, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ also features Iris scanner and a rear-placed fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication option. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are priced at $724.99 (Rs. 47,000) and $824.99 (Rs. 53,000) and will be available in the US starting April 21. As of now there is no word on the pricing and availability for the Indian market.

Now that Motorola's budget Moto G5 and G5 Plus have hit the market and are selling well, its time for the company to move on to the more affordable segment, the Moto E. The Moto E has been a successful phone for Motorola especially in markets like India, Brazil, Mexico and U.S. The first Moto E phone was launched back in 2014, followed by Moto E2 and Moto E3 in 2015 and 2016 respectively. Now it appears that, Motorola is all set to launch the 4th generation of Moto E — the Moto E (2017) or Moto E4 soon. A Motorola phone carrying model number XT1723 has passed the US Federal Communication Commision (FCC), and is reportedly being called Moto E4. The listing reveals that Moto E4 will feature 16GB storage and pack 4000mAh battery. Unfortunately nothing else is know about the phone.
It's worth mentioning that last year, Motorola launched two Moto E3 phones, one the regular Moto E3, and the other the battery-centric Moto E3 Power with 3500mAh battery. So the device in question that passed FCC could be Moto E4 Power, as it also carries a beefy battery capacity. The Moto E series is targeted at the sub Rs. 7,000 ($100) price market, so the new Moto phone will most likely be priced cheaper. As of now it is now known when Motorola plans to launch the phone. But we can expect it to appear on various bench-marking websites in the coming weeks, ahead of the launch and reveal some more details. Via
